Cedrick Isham Calvados
Cédrick-Isham Calvados is a Guadeloupean artist-photographer who started a rap group in 1998. He is strongly influenced by the golden age of French rap and its committed texts. His first experience in journalism in 2004 brought him closer to photography. It was in 2009 that he decided to buy his first DSLR camera. After some shy first shots, he met Charles Chulem-Rousseau and Daniel Goudrouffe who would advise and encourage him to explore photography further. Cédrick-Isham was particularly drawn by the idea of capturing and revealing the undisclosed. In 2013, Cédrick-Isham launched La Guadeloupe, mon visage on social networks. In this project, he approached the subjects with tight portraits, which served as a means to overcome his rejection of himself, his image, and the fear of being judged by others. Cédrick-Isham continues to participate in exhibitions, further developing his vision and photographic writing, imbued with human poetry and nourished by his biases. Some describe him as a portrait artist, but he sees himself above all as a committed and participating witness of his time.
